Renagade Stories approached me to assist with their new documentary series, Trauma Room One, set to air on Channel 5 in January 2024. The team required 3D visualisations that aligned with their house style, accurately depicting various surgical operations and procedures. It was essential that the animations corresponded with the operations featured in each episode, ensuring a strong connection to reality and the ongoing narration.
I chose an X-ray style shader, which enabled us to see inside the human body while maintaining a reference to the external space and positioning. The animation was created in Blender and rendered using Eevee, a real-time rendering engine. This choice allowed for a quick turnaround and easy adjustments, as well as the ability to render in layers due to its speed, providing further flexibility during the editing process.
